Tertiary Programs
Bachelor of Education - (Primary – RATEP Mode)
The four-year course is available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students who live in locations with access to a RATEP site, or to the Off-site Teacher Coordinator and who have achieved entry into the Bachelor of Education (Primary), based on their OP or other direct entry criteria. Alternatively, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, who have completed a Diploma of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education from TAFE Queensland, will receive a full year of credit at JCU and follow a full-time, three-year, equivalent program, to complete the Bachelor of Education.

Vocational Education
Certificate III in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education – VETiS and Adult
VETiS - TAFE Queensland North Region is offering all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Year 10 students, in Queensland, the opportunity to gain a Certificate III in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education.
The course is offered to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, over a two-year period, in Years 11 and 12, as an integral part of their subject selection studies, towards their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE). Successful completion of the Certificate III, provides students with 8 QCE points.
Successful completion of this course, will qualify you to seek work as a Teacher Aide.

Adult students with no previous classroom work experience are also eligible to study this course, either full-time for one year, or part-time over two years.
Successful completion of this course, will qualify you to seek work as a Teacher Aide.

Diploma of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education
TAFE Queensland North Region is offering all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, the opportunity to gain a Diploma of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education.
Adult students, preferably with current/previous classroom experience, as a teacher aide, (but not mandatory), are eligible to study this course, either full-time for one year, or part-time over 1.5 or 2 years.
Successful completion of this course, will qualify you to seek work as a Teacher Aide or Community Education Counsellor and gain entry to the Bachelor of Education (Primary) RATEP Mode at JCU.
Graduates of the Diploma of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education qualification, can gain credit for one full year of the Bachelor of Education (Primary) at JCU.
